CUPE workers in the community-based organizations (CBOs) sector founded the CBO Workers of Saskatchewan sector steering committee in November 2019.
The CBO sector steering committee is made up of CBO workers elected from and by affiliated CUPE CBO locals across the province.
The steering committee fights on behalf of members for fairness by lobbying the provincial government, organizing rallies and marches, and coordinating annual general meetings as well as CBO all-president meetings to discuss challenges and develop strategies for action.
CUPE represents members working in various CBOs across Saskatchewan which provide a wide array of services including: child care, care in group homes and vocational training for people living with disabilities, and community services such as shelters and addictions treatment, through multiple agencies in various cities and towns.
There are 35 CUPE local unions representing over 1,300 members in the CBO sector across Saskatchewan.
